Appointment tips

What if I cannot attend an appointment?

Please notify the practice as soon as possible if you cannot attend an appointment. "DNA" or "Did not attend" appointment is a waste of time and resources of the practice which can be used for other patients. Appointments are in constant high demand. "DNA" appointments increase waiting time for an appointment for all patients and reduces service availability and access for other patients.

What if I have more than one problem to discuss?

Each GP appointment has been given a maximum time of 10 minutes. In order to give your problem the full attention, please try to limit your problem to one for each appointment. If you have serveral problems, please book additional appointments to discuss.

Can I use one appointment for more than one person?

No. If more than one family members need to see a GP, please make separate appointments.

What if I am late for an appointment?

If you are more than 10 minutes late for an appointment, you will be asked to re-book.

Requesting home visits

It is the practice policy to visit only housebound or terminally ill patients. Home visits will NOT be made for children or social reasons. A GP or nurse may ring you prior to a visit is made, to discuss alternatives if appropriate. Please ring before 11:00am to request home visits. Please always try to attend the surgery. The time it takes to do a home visit can be used to see several patients in the practice. You also have the benefit of full surgery equipment and facilities; the doctor will also have full access to your complete medical record and you will most likely be seen sooner.

Telephone message system

Patients may leave a query or message with the receptionist for a GP, who will endeavour to answer at the earliest opportunity.

Nurse triage system

Practice nurse have triage appointments available who may ring patients at home to find out the nature of any medical problems. They may offer advice over the telephone, triage the patient to the most suitable services or offer a face-to-face appointment at the practice.
